I offer personal training to people that strictly want one-on-one attention. I work only with you towards your goals, correcting any imbalances or mobility issues, or with prior injuries you have that want to address and eliminate pain and get back to a healthy and pain free life.

This is included with Remote Coaching as to get long term sustainable results and longevity you need to have all three in place.  For those doing one-on-one training sessions and you wish to include this that can be done at an additional investment. 
 
 
 

 

 

Remote Coaching/Templates
 

Personalized fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle habits are all included.  Tailored to an individuals specific goals I will work with you on each of these areas to improve for overall health, performance, longevity, and body composition changes.  I also include a 30 minute monthly video check in to see how things are going in life and with the training.  I also offer various templates as well as guides based on goals, equipment, and days wanting to train per week.

My name is Rev. Bart Timmerman, I am 39 years old, and I have been a Catholic Priest for 13 years. Back in 2008 I got to a point where I noticed I had become overweight and I decided to make a change. That is when I joined a gym for the first time. To help me with the commitment, I chose to work with a trainer and I lost 30 lbs. After six months with my first trainer, he left the gym. I then began to train on my own for the next two years. During this time I was on my own, I noticed that I was feeling a lot of pain in my shoulders. I also injured my rib on a machine at the gym. These injuries slowed me down from making progress. Then in 2010 I was transferred to a new parish in Monona, WI. I decided to work with a trainer again because I had gained some of the weight back that I had lost and I was feeling like I needed support. I was assigned a trainer by the gym I belonged to and he also left the gym.

 

This is when I met Torrey Penn and began training with him. Immediately I noticed a difference in working with Torrey than with the other trainers I had worked with in the past. Torrey had very good communication skills and I felt that he clearly understood my fitness goals. Torrey was also able to share a lot of knowledge with me regarding nutrition, proper form, stretching, and fitness. As I look back on the last five years of being part of a gym, regularly working out, and working with a handful of trainers, I can appreciate having Torrey for a trainer. He is clearly the best one I have worked with.

 

The most glaring area of support that Torrey has helped me with would be the lack of injuries. When I was training on my own, I tended to over-due certain muscle groups and this caused a lot of pain in my shoulders. Since training with Torrey, I have not had the pain because Torrey makes sure that all muscle groups are exercised equally and he also keeps track of the appropriate amount of weight and reps that are being done. Working on the proper form has also ensured that injuries are avoided and I have not had to slow down, rest, or take a break from training due to injury since I began training with him.

 

Another area of concern I had in the past is since I am a priest, I am basically on call 24-7 and I have a very hectic and varied work schedule. I never thought I would have the time to consistently meet with a trainer three times a week. Time has shown me that I can and if I can find the time, I think anyone could. Torrey has always been very accommodating and flexible with scheduling sessions.

 

Because I am so busy, training with Torrey allows me to get the most out of my sessions so when I am there, I know that I am not wasting my time and energy or doing anything that would cause harm or injury. I do not have time to waste on doing exercises incorrectly or exercises that are not optimal. Torrey has the work-out planned and organized…And they are always challenging!

 

Finally, I would not continue training with Torrey if I was not seeing results. Besides losing 20 lbs., being injury free, and being in the best shape of my life; I have a great sense of accomplishment and feel better about myself. I enjoy training, gaining strength, improving myself, and being healthy. Going to the gym is a high-light of my day because it gets me out of my responsibilities for an hour, reduces stress, gives me another focus besides my ministry, and keeps me healthy. I would highly recommend Torrey to anyone who is interested in becoming the best version of themselves they can be.
